The 2017 Gordon Research Conference on Radiation and Climate will be held in conjunction with the Gordon Research Seminar on Radiation and Climate. Both are focused bringing modelers and theorists together with observationalists to identify and tackle outstanding questions and significant
uncertainties that are present in current global circulation models. The Seminar is a unique forum for graduate students, post-docs, and other scientists with comparable levels of experience and education to present and exchange new data and cutting edge ideas. Applications to attend the Seminar are due by 17 June 2017, and applications to attend the Conference are due by 18 June 2017.

The Aberdeen Catchment Science Summer School is a 5-day
shortcourse that is intended for post-graduate students and post-docs interested in a hands-on catchment science curriculum, focusing on northern catchments, runoff processes and combined hydrometric, isotope/chemical tracer and modeling techniques in catchment hydrology. Registration is limited to 30 students and is on a first come, first served basis. The Sub-seasonal to Seasonal prediction project (S2S), jointly established by the World Weather Research Program (WWRP) and World Climate Research Program (WCRP) in 2013, will end its first
5-year phase in November 2018. S2S will now undergo a review leading potentially to a second phase of 5 years. High Altitude Pseudo Satellites (HAPS) are stratospheric platforms that stay over a fixed point on Earth from weeks to months. They complement or extend the capabilities of satellites in the domains of Earth observation, telecommunication, and navigation with the potential to further integrate with ground-based infrastructure. Integrating HAPS into satellites systems offers new opportunities to provide improved
products and services.
Capitalizing on these developments, the European Space Agency is reaching out to the Earth observation, telecommunication, and navigation communities to present and discuss synergies between satellites and HAPS as well as to collect feedback and recommendations regarding a potential ESA HAPS program.

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) has an opening for the Project Leader and Principal Investigator of the Program for Climate Model Diagnosis and Intercomparison (PCMDI), a major research activity funded by the DOE Office of Science. The successful applicant will direct
an internationally-recognized research effort in climate science, including climate model diagnostics, model performance metrics, and climate change detection and attribution research, and will provide leadership and community support for international climate modeling activities.
