Training Webinar on Water Resources Management Using NASA Earth Science Data Dates and Times: October 13, 20, 27 and November 3 & 10, 2015 Each session will be held two times a day to allow for international participation from different times zones Tuesdays at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM (EDT) Eastern Daylight Time (UTC-5)
The NASA Applied Remote Sensing Training (ARSET) Program is conducting a Water Resources Management webinar this October and you are invited to join. There are five webinars, each an hour long and occurring once a week. Objectives
are to provide 1) information about availability and access to global freshwater data for applications in drought and agricultural management, flooding, and reservoir management from NASA remote sensing observations and land-atmosphere models, and 2) GIS-based analysis of regional water budget for applications in water resources management.
This webinar is free and open but you must register at one of the links below. Space is limited and preference will be
given to agencies engaged in water resource management and decision making around the world. You will be notified by email if your registration has been approved before/by October 1, 2015.
Date: 26 October – 6 November 2015 Location: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
This workshop will provide state of the art training to young researchers and staff members working in hydrometeorological, water resource, and Earth Observation (EO) agencies in South East Asia on how to translate satellite data to water cycle and water resource information for transboundary
waters. It will showcase existing and new EO technologies for observing water cycle variables, demonstrate obtaining and processing various satellite and in-situ observations, and show how to integrate these data via modeling and data assimilation to generate transboundary water resources information. Participation is free of charge, and some travel and accommodation support will be provided to participants.
Nomination Deadline: 2 October 2015

The Global Climate Observing System (GCOS) is organizing a science conference to plan the future of global climate observations. GCOS is creating its new GCOS Implementation Plan, which will guide the development of the global climate observing system in the future, and the conference will give experts and key stakeholders the opportunity to provide their views and inputs into this plan. The conference will also offer experts an occasion to
discuss current monitoring of the Essential Climate Variables (ECVs) and to highlight possible new ECVs. For more information, please visit the website or contact the organizing committee at GCOS-SC@eumetsat.int. Abstract Deadline: 1 October 2015 Dates: 17-22 April 2016 Location: Auckland, New Zealand
Session Title: General Remote Sensing Papers for this session should feature the latest techniques for retrieving surface and atmospheric geophysical variables and present new results obtained from their application to ground-,
aircraft-, and satellite-based radiation measurements.
Session Title: Radiative Transfer Theory and Modeling Papers on radiative transfer (RT) theory and its atmospheric and surface applications are invited. The conveners are interested in aspects of solar and infrared radiation and expect papers on methods for identifying errors and limits of various RT methods in climate and remote sensing
studies.
Abstract Deadline: 31 October 2015
Date: 2 December 2015 Location: Broadbeach, Queensland,
Australia
The OzEWEX 2015 workshop will be held on Wednesday 2 December 2015 in Broadbeach, Queensland. This year’s theme is "Spatial hydrology: Observation, modelling and forecasting." Plenary sessions and parallel discussion sessions will discuss the following topics:
- Observing hydrology at different scales: needs and opportunities
- Multi-objective data assimilation in hydrological modeling
- Advances in characterizing
errors in models and observations
- Ecohydrological function: is Australia’s vegetation really unique?
- Attributing changes in natural hazards to climate and non-climate causes
- Water cycle processes in CABLE and other land surface models
- Streamflow forecasting: from uncertainty to decision (co-sponsored by HEPEX)
You are cordially invited to present your own thought-provoking ideas. Oral presentation should aim to contribute to the
session discussion, whereas posters are welcome on all topics relevant to OzEWEX. To discuss your idea or submit an abstract, email the organizers at info@ozewex.org by 31 October 2015.
Abstract Deadline: 2 November 2015 Date: 17-20 May 2016 Location: Stockholm, Sweden
The International Conference on Regional Climate (ICRC)-CORDEX 2016 will bring together the international community involved in regional climate research focusing on high resolution climate information, and its applications to the vulnerability, impacts and
adaptation community and the full spectrum of potential end users of regional climate information. It will further promote the CORDEX vision to advance and coordinate the science and application of regional climate downscaling through global partnerships. Financial support is available for early career
scientists and scientists from developing countries.
Application Deadline: 1 October 2015
The National Environmental Research Council ( NERC) Independent Research Fellowship (IRF) Scheme is designed to develop scientific leadership among the most promising early-career environmental scientists. All fellows receive five years’ support, which will allow them sufficient time to develop their research programs and to gain
international recognition. As part of this scheme, NERC will expand its fellowship networking and training activities, working with host institutions, to support the development of future leaders in NERC science. Read more about the NERC fellowships here.
Application Deadline: 15 October 2015
