Session on High Resolution Climate Modeling at
AGU Fall Meeting
The deadline for submitting an abstract to the American Geophysical Union’s 48th annual Fall Meeting is coming up on 5 August 2015. Consider submitting to the session below on High Resolution Climate Modeling.

Session Title: High Resolution Climate Modeling
Session ID: 8453

The appropriate simulation of climate impacts on hydrology, ecosystems, landslides, fires, etc. requires climate models to resolve complex terrain and the physical processes creating snowfall and severe local storms. In the past this was not possible due to computer and model constraints leading to the use of statistical and other downscaling techniques.
Date: 14–18 December
Abstract Deadline: 5 August 2015
Location: San Francisco, CA, USA

In recent years, however, increasing computer power has enabled at least limited simulations at very high horizontal resolution, 4 km and below. At these resolutions, convective parameterizations are no longer needed to resolve storms and updraft/downdraft created by complex terrain are for the most part resolved.  This session invites papers exploring the use of high resolution modeling to investigate the impact of climate change on precipitation, hydrology, evapotranspiration, ecosystems, land slides, fires, and other local phenomenon. Find more information and instructions on abstract submission at https://agu.confex.com/agu/fm15/preliminaryview.cgi/Session8453.
