To better quantify the amount and distribution of snow water equivalent (SWE) across the conterminous United States (CONUS), a new observation-based snow dataset has been developed to address the challenge of linking point measurements to gridded data. The dataset, called the University of
Arizona (UA) SWE product over CONUS, is based on the interpolation of snow data from thousands of snow stations across CONUS, and gives daily values of SWE and snow depth at ~4 km resolution across CONUS since 1981.

With the longest annually-resolved snowfall time series compiled for Italy (AD 800-2017), which is also the Mediterranean's longest, this study provides unprecedented high-resolution snowfall records from documentary sources. It gives a perspective on millennium-long snowfall variability in the Mediterranean
and a unique winter proxy for validating output from climate model simulations. Read more at our Research Highlights page.
