Dates: 13–16 February 2024 Location: Honolulu, HI, USA Abstract Submission Deadline: 4 October 2024 In the past decade, there have been unprecedented changes in the fields of sensor technology, satellite missions, modeling and applications to benefit society. Massive amounts of data are available
and can be ingested into data assimilation models to better understand the influence of any particular part of the water cycle. This Chapman Conference aims to explore a number of interesting questions: what is the role of scientists in this mix? Which science questions have been answered in this past decade and what are the next decade’s pressing questions? These are in the areas of water and food security, health, new sensors, and resolving conflicts between countries. How do we further
connect the business of water with the researchers of water? This conference aims to bring together these groups to build further collaborations and foster new ideas that will meaningfully contribute to society in the decades to come.

Submission Deadline: 30 September 2023 This Special Issue in Estuarine, Coastal and Shelf Science, entitled “River Mouth Systems and Marginal Seas – Natural Drivers and Human Impacts”, is based on the main theme of an Online Conference organized by the University of Szczecin and the National Museum in Szczecin, Poland,
and the International Baltic Earth Secretariat at the Helmholtz Zentrum Hereon in Geesthacht, Germany, and held in December 2022. Manuscripts of conference contributions, both oral and poster, as well as manuscripts which were not presented during the conference, but fall under the above theme are invited. This Special Issue supports studies of interrelationships between natural and anthropogenic drivers needed to elaborate strategies for sustainable development of the environment of river
mouths increasingly endangered by climate change and human actions.

Dates: 26–28 September 2023 Location: Helsinki, Finland, and online The 5th International Earth Surface Working Group
(IESWG) meeting will be a hybrid event with two full days on 26–27 September 2023, and the final day of the 28 September for plenary, actions, and outcomes. IESWG was established to help gather requirements specific to surface observations and to enhance both our understanding and ability to monitor the components of the Earth system including land, vegetation, snow, ice, and coastal and open waters. The IESWG plenary sessions will be focused on preparing our recommendations and input to
the CGMS WGII.
